New Brews in Taupo
Lesley and Darryl Robinson Take the Reins at Streetwise Coffee Taupō. Taupō’s Streetwise Coffee is buzzing with fresh enthusiasm as Lesley and Darryl Robinson proudly take the reins as new owners.
Their daughter, Alexa, a bubbly and familiar face at Streetwise Coffee, joins Lesley working at the carts. Together, they form a vibrant family team overseeing both Taupō locations at 30 Te Heu Heu Street and 139 Ruapehu Street. Lesley, a Taupō local, brings a wealth of diverse experience. Her background includes radio, as well as managing trusts and an Airbnb property.
She has also successfully run a clothing and wedding dress rental business. Her journey reflects an entrepreneurial spirit and a deep involvement in the local community. Darryl, originally from Thames, brings a rural influence rooted in his farming background.
A seasoned saw doctor, he arrived in Taupō in 1991 and currently serves as the Sawmill Manager at Tenon Manufacturing, previously known as Tasman Lumber Company. Alexa, with almost three years of prior experience at Streetwise Taupō and a diverse hospitality background, briefly shifted her focus to Life Pharmacy in February 2022. However, the irresistible aroma of coffee has called her back to contribute to Streetwise Coffee once again.
As the torch passes to the Robinsons, Lesley and Alexa will be actively involved in the day-to-day operations, while Darryl, continuing his role at Tenon Manufacturing, will swap sawdust for coffee grounds when needed. Current staff will remain as they are an integral part of the Streetwise Coffee family.
Previous owners Ryan and Brieley Chadwick, who lovingly nurtured the Taupō franchise for nearly four years, pass on the legacy to the community focused Robinson trio.
